Councillor Beccy Cooper leads Worthing Council to lobby government over developers escaping affordable homes payments

Labour Councillor Beccy Cooper gained all party backing to write to Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Sajid Javid.

Beccy Cooper

Beccy secured cross party agreement from Conservative, Liberal Democrat and UKIP councillors for her motion to be unanimously supported.  The motion (in the form of a draft letter) raised concerns that developers were able to claim large discounts in payments due to local authorities which could go towards building of affordable housing.  It also questioned why reports of finances for a development were not made available to the public.

This is a great achievement for Beccy and Labour.  If we can elect more Labour councillors in May we can hold the Conservatives to account and work towards a fairer Worthing for all.
