Housing Crisis

 Housing Crisis

Too many people are struggling to get on the housing ladder thanks to the Tories’ record of failure. Jeremy Corbyn shared Rosie’s situation at PMQs today – a 25 year old young professional still living at home with her parents and unable to buy her own home. The lack of housing options is forcing her to consider moving, even leaving the country entirely. Rosie’s story is just one of many, as under the Tories home ownership has fallen by more than 200,000, house building is at historic low levels and young people are unable to move out and start their own lives.

We want rented homes to be safe for people to live in. It seems like a bare minimum. But the Tories voted against amendments to their Housing and Planning Bill which would require landlords to make private properties fit for human habitation.

Today at PMQs Jeremy shared results of research by Shelter showing that 6 out of 10 renters face issues such as damp, mold, leaking roofs and windows.
