A welcome for our new members.
Worthing West Labour Party is going through an exciting period of expansion and renewal, with hundreds of new members joining over the past year. After the General Election many decided to join Labour to fight back against the inevitable Tory attacks on the poor and vulnerable.
Then, during and after the Labour Leadership elections, many more joined or rejoined Labour because they feel the Party offers new hope and a return to the party's true values.
Since then it has become clear that we have much work to do. In a very short time the Tories have launched attacks on the very essence of Labour’s achievements for ordinary people.
The members in Worthing West are making plans to fight back on behalf of the public, and a New Members’ Social was held on Saturday 21 February at the Labour Hall in Lyndhurst Road. Around 50 people enjoyed the evening, with a picture quiz to test how well we recognised local sights and political and historic figures. Plus plenty of food and drink, of course! Jim Deen, Bill Geddes and Adrienne Davis spoke to outline our targets for the Council Elections in May, and plans were formed for our canvassing activities. If you are not already involved, you are very welcome at the next General Meeting on 2 March, start time 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.
