Worthing West Labour Worthing West Constituency Labour Party
Worthing West CLP were proud to march, with so many others, in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community at Worthing Pride last Saturday. It was great to see so many smiling faces and we had a lot of support, which was so heart-warming. We were lucky with the weather and the event was brilliantly organised by Worthing Pride. Such a happy atmosphere.
It’s 50 years since the Stonewall uprising, and although we have come a long way in terms of our rights and freedoms, we cannot be complaisant. With the rise of the far right in recent years, we need to be mindful that these rights could be stripped away. There are still many countries where being LGBTQ+ is not supported, illegal, or can even result in execution. We stand in solidarity with all those oppressed. It is a human right to be free to be who you are, love who you love, without fear.
Labour will continue to fight to end stigma, oppression, prejudice and inequality!
We want to thank everyone who joined us and supported us. We look forward to joining the Pride Procession again next year. For the many, not the few.
