What a waste!

Six months ago the Tory-led County Council introduced charges for taking DIY waste and plasterboard to our waste and recycling centres and closed a number of them, including the one in East Worthing, for two days a week – all in the name of cost-saving.

Fly Tipping

Since then the amount of soil and hardcore taken to the centres has fallen by 90% and plasterboard by 60%. Not surprisingly, fly-tipping at places like Goring Gap has increased (see photo) and this is far more costly to deal with.

Labour will encourage recycling of all waste materials and will remove the DIY waste charges and restore 7-day waste and recycling centre opening.
