As you may be aware by now, the Conservative government disgracefully voted against giving children entitled to Free School Dinners a hot meal once a day over half term and the Christmas Holidays. Our MP, Sir Peter Bottomley, voted with his party to deny the 1 in 10 school children in Worthing West who are eligible for free school meals the security of one guaranteed hot meal a day during half term.
However, where the government have failed our children, Labour councils up and down the country have stepped in to feed them over half term. Unfortunately we haven’t yet got a Labour Council in Worthing but some of our local businesses have heroically stepped forward to help.
If your children are eligible for free school dinners and are in danger of going hungry during half term then please see the list below go heroic local restaurants who are standing up to help their community. Otherwise, and if you are in a position to, why not show your support for these restaurants by having a meal there and possibly offering to pay forward a meal for someone less fortunate?

At Muldoons we are deeply saddened and angered that the government voted against offering free school meals for children over half term. We’ve seen several local businesses stepping up to help families and we would like to do the same.
We are offering free meals next week to any children who are entitled to free school meals.
Just choose any option off of the kids menu or a sandwich with crisps or fruit and a drink.
No strings attached, no other purchase necessary, can be eaten in or taken away.
It’s not a lot, but hopefully this will help a family who is struggling at the moment. Seeing the community come together during this difficult year has been truly amazing.

Running Twice during October Half Term.
Back in the summer, we started a ‘holiday lunches’ project, particularly for those families who struggle with the extra need for meals in the school holidays. In October, holiday lunches returns!
Using the sign up below, you can sign up for Tuesday or Thursday – just tell us how many of you are coming and that’s it! You are welcome to come to both days but you will need to sign up to each one separately. This will be a takeaway event again as we are not able to host large numbers of people in the building as we would like to.
Word of mouth is so important so if you know someone who would benefit from this, do let them know!

My personals thoughts on this: I wasn’t going to participate in this as I kind of felt like it was jumping on a bandwagon.. instead we would like to think that if any child was hungry and couldn’t be fed that anyone of our customers could come to us any day of the week no matter if it’s a weekday, bank holiday or a Saturday night.. we would never see a child go hungry.. infact you do t even need to be a child… no matter what age you are!! Nobody should have to go hungry in today’s times.. inbox me if u need some help!! It dont need to be a public plea, we dont need to put photos up of us feeding you, you will not be made to feel not worthy because u need a lil help.. I’d like to think if the shoe was on the other foot many of you would do it for me too…. it’s called humanity… kindness.. and god knows we all need a bit of that in our lives.. x
