Hilary Schan
Candidate for Tarring Ward
I’m Hilary, your Labour candidate for Tarring in the local elections this May. Last year, Labour took the council for the first time ever and I would love to join current Labour councillor, Rita Garner in representing the residents of Tarring.
I grew up in Worthing and moved back here a few years ago. The town has changed so much in recent years and it has been sad to see the effect years of cuts to local government funding by the Conservative government has had. I help to run a local volunteer-led foodbank and have seen first hand the consequences this recent Cost of Living crisis is having on people in our communities.
Our new Labour council has brought hope to the town and working alongside councillors, I see the hard work that has gone in to trying to reverse years of neglect. Tarring is a close knit, thriving community with great local businesses and fantastic groups helping to make it a great place to live. I have really enjoyed speaking to many residents during this campaign and if elected, I will work with the community to make sure everyone feels safe, has the support they need and a say in the future of our town.
